"The Innocence" by Edward Champigny

The Innocence - painting by Edward Champigny

This painting is dedicated to my father, who taught me great work ethic; to my brother Dave, who loved to fly; to my brother Ralph, who brought a wife from England; and to my brother Arthur, who saved me from a bully in grammar school.

The Innocence is a Madonna of the Pond and Koi. Kimmy is sitting on the bridge lovingly observing her baby, Faith, who with exciting innocence, sees all the colors of the Koi as they come to her.

The Japanese poem pictured at left of the bridge is by Halliday Piel. The message translates to "mother watches daughter discover Koi".

The bridge is a Mugo Ramboshi.

The fish starting from left bottom:

Hi Utsuri from Blue Ridge Hatcheries - Thank you Randy
Kohaku from Quality Koi (Yuri) - Thank you Joe

Middle:
