Kimmy points to thirteen butterflies representing the thirteen stars on our original flag.  Her ankle extends beyond the flag to symbolize freedom from the brutal beatings of Afghanistan women if their ankles were shown in public.  The twin lanterns have been removed from the bridge to show respect for our loss on 9/11/01. Note the shadow below Kimmy’s right knee is all that remains of the lanterns as to never forget..    The multi-hued fish represent the cultural mix of the American people.
